“I met Akiva [Goldsman] when he was working on a version of a Titans movie and that never really happened. At some point he and I got together and we were talking about a TV series idea,” Johns says. “We didn’t quite know how it would work and over the years it evolved.” That evolution, from a Titans movie now apparently lost to the fog of time, also included a proposed Titans TV series for cable network TNT....

Writer Daniel Abraham, who is in the writers room and who writes The Expanse novels with collaborator Ty Franck under the name James S. A. Corey, has a simple answer to that question. “You just lay it out there and go, ‘Really? You thought these were the good guys because they were the underdogs? You still think that?’” he said in our exclusive interview before the December 16 premiere. Franck pointed out that the first episodes of The Expanse season 5 address that issue head on....

The Flash Season 8 Episode 10 As an individual episode, The Flash’s “Reckless” is a fairly uneventful hour. The team is embarrassingly unsuccessful at stopping the mysterious black fire that’s cold fusion burning people to death all over town. Deon’s freaking out about Iris’s time sickness, which still doesn’t make any sense at all. Sue Dearbon continues to display her impressive array of personal outerwear. And Iris maybe sort of accidentally completely erases someone from existence, but somehow that’s not the A plot this week....

The Magicians Season 4 Episode 9 The lack of unified quests that we worried about in last week’s episode of The Magicians takes a step in the right direction in “The Serpent.” In addition to an intriguing twist in the hedge witch storyline, the rescue of Harriet gave us some wonderful insights into Alice’s character, and there were moments in Fillory that likely left few dry eyes in the audience. And of course, the mission to recover the Monster’s missing parts took a surprising turn and upped the ante in ways that we have yet to fully comprehend....

Boba Fett is officially back, armor and all, in Chapter 14 of The Mandalorian, “The Tragedy.” It’s an action-packed return for the beloved bounty hunter too, as we watch him take down stormtroopers with all of his high-tech weapons as well as a Gaderffii stick most often used by Tusken Raiders. Despite being a bit older and left heavily scarred from his time in the sarlacc pit, Boba Fett has lost none of his skill, as that platoon of stormtroopers quickly learns....

If you recall, Din was excommunicated from his clan in Boba Fett after revealing to the Armorer that he had taken off his helmet and shown his face to Grogu, a big no-no for this particularly extremist warrior tribe. But Din’s exile doesn’t have to be permanent. He just needs to go find a mine on Mandalore and “redeem himself” in the “living waters” inside. Sounds a bit like Mandalorian baptism....

There are goat masks, life-sized corn dolls, eldritch child-brides dancing a devil’s step … all topped off with an effigy-beheading-by-sword ritual that makes The Wicker Man’s Summerisle look like a sane and cosy spot for a weekend Airbnb....

According to Bakula, he was shown a script for the reboot back in January, but for unspecified reasons made the “difficult decision” to pass on the project. He made it clear that he has “no connection with the new show, either in front of the camera or behind it.” But just because he decided not to return, doesn’t mean that he harbors any ill-will toward the cast or creators behind the Quantum Leap reboot....

As ever, there’s a huge number of duds and forgettable flops, but there were plenty of films that were wrongly overlooked, too. That’s where this list comes in, which aims to shed a bit of light on 20 films that were either unfairly overlooked by audiences at the time, or have faded rapidly from general discussions about movie theater....

The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang essentially eliminated the notion of further Negan flashbacks on the franchise’s imminently ending mothership. In an interview with EW, Kang acknowledges the major alterations and omissions in “Here’s Negan,” notably how it missed the majority of Robert Kirkman’s 16-issue 2016 miniseries of the same name, in which the titular traumatized widower forms the antagonistic survivor group called The Saviors. Indeed, while the episode aptly adapted Negan’s relationship with dying wife Lucille (played by Morgan’s real-life wife, Hilarie Burton), that story’s necessary dominance gave way to a distilled, incomplete recount of how her death transformed him....

One of The Walking Dead‘s central mysteries for the last year has revolved around the voice on the other side of Eugene’s radio. Throughout season 10, Eugene talked to a woman named Stephanie (Margot Bingham) from a settlement in Charleston, West Virginia (as revealed in the episode “Morning Star”). After getting to know each other and earning Stephanie’s trust, Eugene decides to lead a group of Alexandrians to Stephanie’s settlement....

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 19 The opening montage of this week’s The Walking Dead asks an important question of both its survivors and the audience: does it take more courage to live than to die in this environment? It’s underscored by a montage of Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and his lower moments, from begging Abraham (Michael Cudlitz in flashback form) to save his life to joining up with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) during the Savior days....

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 8 One of the things The Walking Dead does better than most shows, especially shows that lean action/adventure or horror, is scale. There’s no shortage of zombie extras on The Walking Dead, and the show never hesitates to push for larger groups and bigger action sequences so long as the budget holds up. There’s no denying that, even with CGI sweetening, “For Blood” has a lot of zombie moving parts, and a lot of relatively complicated action sequences involving multiple parties fighting side by side, against one another, against the dead, or some combination of all three....

It’s the only way the opening act of the final season of The Walking Dead could end: with the fall of one villain and the rise of another. Taking a page out of Alpha’s playbook, Maggie, Negan, and Gabriel lead a walker horde into enemy territory, while Daryl does his best to support them from within the Reapers’ walls. It’s a coordinated attack that ends up working out much better than the audience likely expected, as the heroes breach the Reaper complex and the walkers begin feasting....

No, we’re not talking about the fact that Chandler Riggs (formerly Carl Grimes) turned up on set and got to be a background extra in an Alexandria scene. Nor are we talking about the fact that series producer and this episode’s director Greg Nicotero portrayed a zombie yet again (you can see him in the image accompanying this article). We’re talking about some cameos that didn’t technically even occur with the episode itself!...
